Auckland Zoo
On Friday the 4th of April 2014 room 10, 7 and 9 went on a extravaganza trip to the Auckland Zoo to learn about native trees and animals. We travelled by two buses, once we entered the bus we greeted the bus driver. It took about 40 minutes or less to arrive at the Auckland Zoo.
Once we arrived there, we all had to thank the driver and hop off, we lined up into our groups and had to wait for the instructors to arrive to the entry of the zoo. Our group teacher and parent helper were Mrs Atuahiva and Eseki’s uncle Tevita. The instructors names were Laura, John and Richard. Laura talked to us before we entered the zoo about the rules and what we can and what we can’t do.
Our first destination was a little seating place where Laura was talking to us where to go first. Our second destination was the Lizard Place we saw lizards sitting still in the tank on the rock that was in it. The lizard was small and the colour was grayish and a bit of greenish on it. The lizard never moved when we were there, which was sad because I wanted to see them move. :(
Our next destination was called the rainforest we saw the Kauri tree and the Nikau tree and much more well we were walking in the rainforest.
The next destination was visiting the kea, it was massive and it had orange wings. It landed near our class room 10.
After seeing different types of native trees, plants and birds we had lunch in a seating area where the sun was shining beautiful on us, it was very hot. After lunch we had time to ourselves, to go look around the Zoo and see things we never got to see. We went to see the Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras, and so much more. We had a lot of fun getting to see animals and learning about different types of animals.
When it came to the end of leaving the Auckland Zoo I felt sad because it was fun and I had a really good time.

Magda the Mammoth Hunter
I read a book called Magda the Mammoth Hunter. It was about a girl named Lucy who thought she has been to this place of art in Europe. She lives in Melbourne Australia and has traveled to Paris and London. Her father was a professor and he took Lucy to a special place he calls it a cave. Their were lights shining in the cave and it was cold and whenever they walk their footsteps echoed.

Netbook Reflections

Netbook Reflection
How has having a net book helped my learning?
It is a lot faster to type everything out instead of using pen and paper. You can go on the school blogs to see what other people from your school has posted. I can also use google to search about things that I've never known. I can also check my emails that my teacher has sent to me about my school work.
Has having a net book helped you communicate with your teacher?
Yes because I can communicate with her through gmail and share work with her to check.
What have you learnt online?
I learnt that there are some activities that can help me learn things like study ladder etc.
What have you learnt from your friends?
I learnt to share my school work and communicate with my friends using blog commenting, gmail and other social sites.
Have you helped other people this year?
Yes I've helped lots of people with their work and what they need help with
How has digital learning helped your learning?
Its better and easier than writing it in your books or on a paper and there is also auto correct which tells me if I have grammar mistakes that I need to correct which makes it easier for me.

The Beach
Wednesday 30th October 2013
The Beach
Who : Lisa, Lauren, Kathren, Kaialani
Where: The Beach
When:On a sunny afternoon
How: Travelled by car
Why:To spend time together
Beginning:
It was a nice sunny day we began to feel the heat rushing through our body’s and sweat dripping. Everybody was dying to go for a swim at the beach. Lisa told everyone to get their swimming togs, and their towels, “we are going to the beach” said Lisa. Kathren and Kaialani were super excited for a nice cold swim.
Middle:
As soon as they left the house everyone had to put on sunscreen to protect themselves from the sun. Lauran forgot to put sun lotion on and she hopped in the car. “Everybody buckle up” yelled Lisa . When they got there Kathren ran straight into the cold water. Lisa was doing a head count and was telling them about the rules and not to go too far from the shore because the big waves could wash them away. Before entering the water Kaialani’s nose began to bleed and Kathren came back with cuts on her feet because she was jumping off the oyster rocks.
End:
Everyone decided to build sand castles and have a competition while Lisa went back to the car to get the first aid kit for Kathren and Kaialani. “Kathren you know not to go on the rocks unless an adults with you”! yelled Lisa. Everyone felt hungry and decided to go home. “ Next time we will go to the pools instead” said Lisa. Everyone felt happy and wonderful and they were all safe.

My portrait
Today at Technology we have learnt how to create a portrait of ourselves using Photo Shop. We took a photo of ourselves on Photo Booth and uploaded it on to photo shop. We then started decorating the out lines of our face and our school uniform, we then filled in some colors to make it look cool and look like we are a cartoon character
